Costa Rica Yoga & Surf Retreat
Playa Azul, Guanacaste, Costa Rica
April 12-18, 2026
We’re going to Costa Rica! Join us for a 7-day yoga and surf retreat on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, in the heart of one of the world’s five Blue Zones—regions known for their vibrant, intentional living and deep connection to nature, community, and well-being. Our home for the week is Playa Azul, a peaceful beachfront resort nestled between jungle and sea. Days filled with yoga, surf, sunshine, and rest. We’ll enjoy a catamaran sail and horseback ride along the beach, both included in your stay. Throughout the week, you’ll be invited to deepen your yoga practice in new and meaningful ways through asana, thoughtful workshops, and discussions designed to enrich your understanding and experience. Evenings are for slow dinners, sound healing, restorative movement, and watching sunsets together—sharing laughter, stories, and quiet moments by the sea. Our retreats are for everyone - from yoga and surf beginners to experienced practitioners and teachers. We aim to provide a diverse experience that will meet you exactly where you are.Come solo or with a friend—our retreats are spacious, grounded, and welcoming. Every offering is optional, allowing you to curate your own experience.
The Retreat

The Property
Our retreat home is a secluded luxury beach resort in Playa Azul, nestled along the raw and beautiful coastline of Guanacaste. This quiet village, known for its black-sand beaches and surrounding hills, invites you to slow down and embrace the pura vida spirit.
Enjoy a swim up pool bar, lounge chairs on the beach, hammocks, and more. Marbella Beach will be our daily surf spot just a few minutes down the road, with a complimentary shuttle to take us there each day. Marbella Beach is known for its consistent waves and wide stretch of sand, perfect for all levels.
We’ll have exclusive use of the gorgeous open-air yoga shala facing the ocean, surrounded by palm trees and ocean breeze. April in Costa Rica is warm, dry, and golden—perfect for moving your body under open skies. We provide all mats and props, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.
-
You’ll stay in thoughtfully designed shared or private rooms, each offering plenty of space to relax and unwind on private balconies and hammocks with ocean or garden views. All rooms have ensuite bathrooms. Shared rooms have 3 beds per room.
-
All meals are included and prepared by our on-site chefs using fresh, local ingredients. Expect nourishing, organic, vibrant food made with care. We’re happy to accommodate any dietary restrictions—just let us know!

All yoga and surf sessions are always optional, and if you’ve never surfed before - you won’t be the only one! Surfing is incorporated as a fun way to try something new and be close to the ocean - there’s no pressure and certainly no experience needed.

ABSOLUTELY. Wave retreats are the perfect place for solo travelers. You’ll meet and connect with a group of like minded people, and find lasting friendships along the way. We’ll make a WhatsApp group before the trip, where we’ll all introduce ourselves, connect with roommates if booking shared rooms, and potentially plan to travel together if you’d like!
-
Totally! We love having couples on our retreats. We’d love to have your partner join any yoga classes they want to, but they can also just hang out, join for meals and excursions, and make the trip their own!
Couples can book individually at the shared room price, and have a private room for the two of them.

If you’re thinking about extending your trip, there are plenty of beautiful ways to explore more of Costa Rica before or after the retreat. If you'd like to arrive early or stay longer at Azul Hotel & Retreat, you're welcome to book extra nights directly and let them know you’re part of the Wave Yoga Retreat.

On our retreats, we embrace a spirit of balance, mindfulness, and respect for ourselves and one another. While there is a bar on site and guests are welcome to enjoy a drink during their stay, we kindly ask that alcohol be consumed in moderation and with intention. Our primary focus is on yoga, rest, and wellness — and as such, we encourage everyone to be mindful of how alcohol can affect your body, your practice, and the shared experience of the group. We ask that all guests indulge responsibly and remain considerate of others at all times. Quiet hours begin at 10:00 PM. After this time, we ask that noise be kept to a minimum, especially in shared villas and common areas. Please be respectful of your roommates and fellow guests who may be resting or seeking solitude. Let’s co-create a peaceful and rejuvenating environment for everyone.

We have a scholarship program to help make our experiences accessible. We have one scholarship available on each of our retreats. If cost is a significant barrier for you, or if the currency of your home country coverts unfavorably into USD, send us an email and we’ll reach out with details on how to apply.
